Del Monte Living

October 29, 2016 Meredith Fischer

Imagine yourself living in the countryside in a beautiful white estate with horses surrounding your property all while being nestled in the middle of the city with access to shopping, restaurants and parks within minutes of your doorstep. It's like the best of both worlds. This property has all of that.

This single level home is 3,400 square feet, french doors lead you into this home with two master bedrooms and space for the whole family to visit.

The formal living area has gorgeous floor to ceiling windows which were initially concealed by sheer curtains as you can see below.

FullSizeRender.jpg

This room is fairly long and narrow so instead of highlighting that, we removed the existing furniture and opted to completely re-format the furniture and remove all of the sheer panels; making it a cozier space that allows you to enjoy both the fireplace and the unobstructed gorgeous view. The formal living room leads to the perfect space for a library or study.

The family room is another large space that incorporates the formal dining room. Again, sometimes long narrow spaces can be difficult. The best way to go about it is to define how you want to use the space. In this case, the area needed to function as two separate spaces. See the before below:

We removed the existing furniture and utilized an area rug to define the living space. We also brought in a couch and loveseat combination. The second half of the space functions as the dining area. We brought in a dining table and chairs that complimented the space. Take a look at the after shots below:

The kitchen is spacious with tons of storage, upgraded appliances and a ton of counter top space that make entertaining a breeze.

This property includes four bedrooms, two of which have master bedroom setups.

Another great feature of this property is the outdoor space, multiple courtyards give you numerous oasis opportunities to enjoy.

Luxurious Living on Marble Canyon

October 28, 2016 Meredith Fischer
Marble Canyon Front.jpg

With the holidays fast approaching, having a house that has enough space to accommodate the whole family, might be what you are looking for! Well, let me introduce you to this lovely property located at 6696 Marble Canyon. This property boasts 3,646 sq ft. with five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

When you enter the house, you come into a large space which is considered the formal dining and formal living room. When we first accessed the house,  there were no furnishings throughout the entire place, only window coverings. Our plan included replacing those and bringing in furniture for the key areas of the home including the formal living room, formal dining room, family room, breakfast nook, master bedroom and master bath.

To give you an idea of what the formal areas looked like before, here is a photo of the space:

Here are the formal areas after being staged: Valances were removed and longer curtain panels were added. The neutral tone showcases the gorgeous view framed by large picture windows. The formal sitting area and a formal dining area are perfect for entertaining and hosting a dinner party.

From this space, you head into the family room which is just off the kitchen and includes a breakfast nook. The same scenario applied in these spaces. When we accessed the property nothing was in the space besides valences on the windows.

Here is what the space looked like after staging:

The last area we staged was the master bedroom, which I would prefer to call the master retreat! It's on the opposite end of the house from the rest of the bedrooms, a feature I always enjoy. The space is quite large and has enough room to accommodate a king size bed (or larger) a seating area and a bench at the foot of the bed. PLUS, it has two walk-in closets!!

Here is what the space looked like before:

After it was staged, the room definitely took on a luxurious retreat feel! This is by far one of my favorite bedroom setups to date.

If the room setup wasn't enough, the master bathroom leaves little to be desired. The cherry on top? How about this gorgeous bathtub? I would not mind taking a bubble bath in this tub after a long day of furniture moving.

A View of the Park: The House on Mono

October 22, 2016 Meredith Fischer

We see a lot of houses, some are up-to-date while others have been left in their original condition. Occasionally, we come across a home that has been meticulously re-designed adding form and function within its walls. From the moment I saw this adorable house on Mono amid construction, I was excited to get my hands on it. I watched as they crafted the architectural details to bring some old world charm to this re-designed home.

Once the construction was completed, I was able to take in all of the work these gentleman had done to take this house and make it ready to be a home. One of my favorite details being the trim added to all the windows and doors that reminds me of the craftsmanship we see in our 100-year-old shop. In a world of fast and furious construction, little details like this tickle me to no end.

First things first, the front porch: walking up you can imagine yourself sitting on the front porch sipping your morning coffee and waving to your neighbors as they walk by on their morning stroll. Nothing epitomizes that small town feel like a front porch.

The oversize picture windows overlook Minden Park framing in one of the most beautiful vantage points in our town.

Now inside this brings me to my second favorite feature of this gorgeous home: open floor plan. The living room boasts enough space for lounging and includes a nook that's perfect for sitting down with your favorite book or creating an in-home office.

Entertaining is easy with a beautifully laid out kitchen that includes a breakfast nook. Bar stools make it easy to visit with guests while preparing some tasty eats on the brand new stainless steel appliances. The dining area welcomes you to sit and enjoy a beautifully prepared meal and make lasting memories with the best of friends.

Onto the Master Retreat, a lovely space for the sweetest of dreams with an attached master bathroom with a double vanity, water closet, walk-in shower and walk-in closet.

Living is easy in this home. If you'd like to stop by and take a look at this gorgeous place give Devin Murphy a call to setup your own private showing (775) 450-7599.

Witches Fingers: October Signature Snack

October 21, 2016 Meredith Fischer

Looking for some fun "finger foods" (pun intended) to prepare this Halloween? How about Witches Fingers?? They taste better than they look, trust me.

Here's what you will need:

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup icing sugar (powdered, or confectioner's sugar) sifted

1 egg

1 teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 3/4 cups all purpose flower

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup whole blanched almonds

1 tube red decorator gel

Directions: Mix together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla. Then, beat in the flour baking powder and salt . Cover and refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes. Working with one-quarter of the dough at a time and (the remaining dough should stay refrigerated) roll heaping tablespoons full of dough into finger shape for each cookie. Press almond firmly into one end for nail. Squeeze in center to create knuckle shape. Using a knife, make slashes to create knuckles.

Place on lightly greased cookie sheet in 325* F oven for 20-25 minutes or until pale or golden. Let finger cookies cool for three minutes. Lift up almond and squeeze red decorator gel onto nail bed and press almond back into place so gel oozes out from underneath. Repeat with remaining dough.

Makes about 5 dozen fingers.
